After last weeks cup collapse Dardie had no time to feel sorry for themselves with 3rd place Islay came to Clydebank. With a much changed starting 11 Dardie came blasting out the blocks when a loose ball in the box was seized upon by MEECHAN and with a slight deflection he scored the opener. Dardie went further ahead on 15 mins with a bit of MacDonald magic. After winning the ball on the edge of the box, he nutmegged the oncoming defender, then a drop of the shoulder was enough to see off a 2nd defender and with great composure squared to CRAIG to tap in. After their frantic start it was inevitable that Dardie would drop off and that allowed Islay a fine goal from a free kick.
Half Time: Blairdardie Utd 2 vs 1 Glasgow Islay
After a poor 15 mins leading to half time, Dardie were a different beast in the 2nd half. The pressing high was causing numerous problems to Islay and the 3rd arrived when Meechan's fine cross was volleyed in by STEWART who timed his run to perfection. It was one way now and the 4th wasn't long in coming. Herson's corner was met on the half volley by JOHNSTON and it was beyong the keeper before he could move. Dardie passed up at least two more golden chances to add to their score. In the end they had to settle for 5. Stewart released MCBRIDE and he smartly beat the keeper at his near post. A fine victory for Dardie on a day when they were just too good for their opponents.
