Dardie went into this game knowing that with teams dropping points early then points on the board could be vital. A cagey opening from both teams was only noticeable for Johnston's drive which smashed off the bar an onto the line from 25 yards. Dardie were to take the lead a Herson corner caused confusion in the Islay boxand the box dropped to KELLY who finished on the half volley like a striker. Dardie moved two ahead 3 minutes later when a quick counter saw Johnston square for MACDONALD who calmy finished from 6 yards. Neither team could get complete control, with Dardie's defence dealing with most.

Dardie's sluggish start to the 2nd half mirrored the whole half. Dardie were unable to assert themselves, looking tired as the half wore on. Islay got back into the game with 25 to go with a top corner screamer. With 18 minutes left Logan made a last ditch attempt to stop the striker going clean through which left Dardie down to ten men. Islay were completely on top but couldn't find a way past a resolute Dardie defence and Currie who made at least 5 stops.
