The first league game of the season saw Dardie travel to Stepps to face recently relegated Strathclyde Uni. A very even opening saw neither team take control until the 16th minute when Strathclyde edged ahead. Dardie were then reduced to ten men when Stewart saw red for a wild hack. Dardie squared the game on the 38th minute when MACDONALD strolled forward and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner. Neither side created anything of note after.

With Dardie a man light clever game management had to come into play. Strathclyde got what they thought was the winner on 78 minutes, a clear offside ignored by the official. Dardie now had to dig deep and got their reward with 4 minutes left. Craig broke on the Strathclyde defence, passed inside to Johnston who quickly found MacDonald, MacDonald played a defence splitting pass back to CRAIG who showed fantastic composure to fire though the keepes legs. A superb performance from Dardie who showed battling qualities to come from behind twice with ten men.
