Dardie came up against 2nd Division Glenavon knowing a win would see them progress through the group. Dardie opened the scoring after 3 mins when Johnston went passed his man and crossed for MCBRIDE, who stole in between the two centre halves and looped a superb header over the keeper. Dardie extended their lead on 11 mins when JOHNSTON went past two men and smashed past the keeper. A 3rd was never far away and arrived when STEWART burst from deep, played a one-two with McBride and cooly finished into the top corner. Poor marking by Dardie from a Glenavon free kick allowed Given to give Glenavon a way back into the match. Dardie restored their three goal advantage when Herson swung over a cross which MCBRIDE netted with his 2nd header.

With Dardie on top they had to score first to close the game off for Glenavon. MCBRIDE got his 1st Dardie hat trick when he stepped inside his marker and curled under the keeper. A 6th arrived on 63 mins, Byers releasing Stewart clean through and he showed fine team work by squaring for MCBRIDE who tapped in from 8 yards. Dardie could have had more, only stopped by poor finishing and poor refering. The 7th goal arrived when Johnston left the right back standing and squared for TAYLOR, who slid in from 5 yards.
